Osiris: New Dawn - Road Map

Beta Update #5

The next update will get us even closer to finishing the Beta branch and becoming the Main branch on Steam PC. Adding and cleaning the Multiplayer mode system with a brand new back end system, refined AI and Combat, and major boosts to the Utility and Structure systems will allow us to design far more interesting gameplay and strategy to Osiris: New Dawn. We’ve also added some features that have been requested from our community such as Key Binding and Controller Support.

We can’t wait to get through these features as fast as possible but due to the nature of game development can not give a time estimate. That said we work on Osiris: New Dawn everyday and generally release an update every 6 - 10 weeks. This update is especially ambitious, but we’re always up for a fun challenge!

Multiplayer

  • Create a cleaner way of adding friends to multiplayer missions and modes using the Steam API. Players should see a list of friends and colony invites.

  • In game Multiplayer restored and functional. Traversal, animation, inventory, crafting, combat, FX, and AI are all syncing properly.

  • Interplanetary Multiplayer so that players can travel from planet to planet and be in the same multiplayer solar system.

  • Persistence across multiplayer players. If a player creates something, all other players receive the object when joining as part of their persistent private universe.

  • New A* Pathfinding system instead of all deep path for much improved pathfinding around objects. Droids and creatures should no longer get stuck behind rocks, structures, utilities, etc after this system is implemented.

  • Node Based AI behaviors to allow design of more specific behaviors on a per droid bases. Add various sensors and functions that various droids would have.

Beta Update #6

Future update information will go here once we have it finalized. As stated above, our goal is Beta Update #5 will become the primary live branch on Steam. However, due to the nature of game development we may do one more Beta update before that merge. Either way, we will be sure to fill you in right here.
